Danny Tidwell

Daniel Arnold Tidwell was born on August 1, 1984, in Norfolk, Virginia, and raised in Virginia Beach. He started dancing at eight, first in jazz, and was guided by Denise Wall at her studio Dance Energy, who took him into her family. His brother is the dancer and choreographer Travis Wall.

He trained at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., won silver at the USA International Ballet Competition, and joined American Ballet Theatre in 2003, where he danced leading roles, including the spirit in Fokine's Le Spectre de la Rose. He went on to dance with Complexions Contemporary Ballet and later became a soloist with the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in Oslo.

In 2007 he was runner-up on the third season of So You Think You Can Dance. He appeared in Memphis on Broadway in 2009 and danced with Tiler Peck on Dancing with the Stars in 2010.

Danny was co-founder and artistic editor of movmnt. He married David Benaym in 2014. He died on March 6, 2020, at the age of 35, from injuries sustained in a car accident in Georgia.

Keep It Real
