Vélib’ (from “vélo libre” or “vélo liberté” meaning free bicycle or bicycle freedom) is a public bicycle rental program in Paris, France. Originally launched in July, 2007 with 10,000 bicycles in 750 automated rental stations, the numbers has since grown to 20,000 bicycles and 1,450 stations. W ith one station every 300 m throughout the city centre, Vélib’ is the largest system of its kind in the world.
