Paul Taylor Dance Company City Season
Paul Taylor Dance Company’s three week season opens Wednesday, February 25th at New York City Center. The season will celebrate the company’s return to New York City Center and the long anticipated revival of Scudorama, an edgy powerful performance that has not been performed in 40 years. Along with the the dark suspenseful Scudorama, the 16-member company will be performing 19 original pieces choreographed by the legendary Paul Taylor.
The season will feature both new and old favorites with a large array of classically inspired to exhilarating contemporary pieces. Paul Taylor continues to choreograph after all these years, adding two new pieces to this season; one features songs by The Mamas and The Papas and the other inspired by Walt Whitman. You can expect to see Arden Court (1981), Byzantium (1984), Changes, Danbury Mix (1988), De Sueños (of dreams) (2007), De Sueños que se Repiten (of recurring dreams) (2007), Esplanade (1975), Eventide (1997), Funny Papers (1994), Images (1977), Last Look (1985), Le Sacre du Printemps (the rehearsal) (1980), Mercuric Tidings (1982), Offenbach Overtures (1995), Private Domain (1969), Promethean Fire (2002), Scudorama (1963) and The Sorcerer’s Sofa (1989).
With an opening this vibrant and diverse, this season is sure to bring more fantastic, can’t miss performances. Paul Taylor Dance Company will be performing in New York from February 25 through March 15 at New York City Center.
