Ballet and Hip-Hop: A Love Affair

Ballerina Who Loves B-Boy, created and directed by Mr. Choi Hee-ill, is an evening length dance performance that merges the worlds of hip-hop and ballet together. This electrifying dance show features the 2007 B-Boy World Champions, Extreme Crew.

The super-charged performance follows a ballerina as she collides with her loud street dancing neighbors. The collison of the two worlds creates a “high-energy, heart pounding, gravity-defying display of technical skill that will leave the audience in awe.” The show has toured in Asia for the past three years, from its home base in Korea, and is making its debut in New York this October.

Ballerina Who Loves B-Boy is bound to electrify audiences, and after the real B-boy’s performance with Atlanta Ballet for an incredible convergence of genre (See our article in the Summer 2008 issue – Movmnt #7) it really seems that B-boy loves ballerina too.

Performances will run through December 21ST

37 Arts – 450 W. 37th Street in Manhattan.
