Jillian Lewis and Robert Grekovic discuss Choreography at The GuggenheimWorks & Process at the Guggenheim

Project Runway contestant, and former dancer, Jillian Lewis joins dance writer, Robert Greskovic in a panel discussion at the Guggenheim in New York City about the choreographic collaboration between Pam Tanowitz and Brian Reeder.

Tanowitz, a product of Ohio State and Sarah Lawerence College, is a modern choreographer who has produced works seen in Danspace Project,  Joyce Soho, American Dance Festival, and Jacob’s Pillow.  Hailing from William Forsythe Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, Reeder has created numerous ballets for ABT, Washington Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet, among others.

The collaboration is in effort to merge the two styles of dance together to “blur the lines between our own choreography so that it could become unrecognizable – even to us [...] make it truly collaborative-using each others dancers, and writing the dance together in the moment,” Reeder and Tanowitz explain.

Following the performances on Sept 21 and 22, a panel discussion will be held with Reeder, Tanowitz, Lewis, and Greskovic.

Programs take place in The Peter B. Lewis Theater of The Sackler Center for Arts Education at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum at 7:30 pm.

Tickets are $30 General admisson, $10 for students.  Call (212) 423-3587 to purchase tickets in advance.

About the author

Pop culture is part of our heritage. The challenge is to raise the stakes and add to its legacy instead of recycling it. Co-founded by French journalist David Benaym and Performer Danny Tidwell (American Ballet Theatre, So You Think You Can Dance, Memphis on Broadway…), Movmnt Magazine aspires to bridge the gap between pop culture and today’s real talent, and recognize artists over fame junkies. We aim to bring fashion, dance, music and pop culture, together as a lifestyle.
